The label that never seems to slow down, Life and Death proves timeless in 2017 with a steady stream of records each a unique sound and independent crate essential. The latest comes from Israeli genre-defying duo Red Axes to welcome in the winter season. Their arrival to the label feels like perfect timing following a recent album on their own Garzen Records as well as a tune Tennis’ Dj Kicks. As Life and Death sign off the summer season with a two-part wax EP, it’s another one for the books.
Red Axes have been moving the thriving Tel Aviv scene years with an eclectic blend of unique compositions sprinkled with a few driving techno cuts. After a slew of originals and scattered big reworks, they broke into 2015 with releases on Hivern Discs and Crosstown Rebels. Success through persistence and diversity, the duo has developed their own alt-rock label Garzen Records while at the same landing on many of the top electronic imprints. With tunes made for listening and others made for dancing, this project is born from the art of music production rather than a DJ focus. Title track Kalacol is evidence of Red Axes ability to deliver dancefloor heat.
Red Axes the whole team head to Amsterdam next month for another session that which partially defines the integrity of ADE itself. Label boss man and Italian underground house don DJ Tennis will be joined by Awanto 3, Gerd Janson, Honey Soundsystem, Jackmaster, Jennifer Cardini, Lucy, Leon Vynehall, Marvin & Guy, Margot, Red Axes and The/Das amongst more exciting names.
